Crochet Challenge!! Day 24: Favorite Stitch

Usually I make things like toys and object, so I don't use a particular stitch very often. I did find a stitch that I liked during this challenge, which is the Corner to Corner stitch. It can be used it to make stripes or pictures which is what I have been enjoying. I used this stitch to make the Halloween wall hang and am planning another using the same method.

Here is the chart for a pumpkin wall hang that I'm planning. Its very easy to make charts like these in paint and its on every computer for free which is a plus.

I was playing with the stitch this weekend and made this little block.

Crochet Challenge!! Day 23: How Long Have I Been Crocheting?

I learned to crochet from my mom when I was 8. I learned a little more from my grandmother when I was 14 in order to help her finish a baby blanket she was making. I am currently 23 so I've been crocheting for 15 years. I spent my first whole summer just making one super long chain to wrap around my house. My level of crocheting has come in waves. I got very into it during my sophomore year of high school for a month or so and then It was just a background interest for the rest of high school, because I was so busy with drum line . I then got very into it during my freshman year of college, which is when I made this blog and I have been obsessed ever since.

Crochet Challenge!! Day 22: Brown

The theme for today is brown. A color which I have not used often at all. The only project I could think to share is the crocheting movie that I made for Campus Movie Fest. It features a seed that slowly grows into a tree.

Yarn of Life

It was mostly made of brown so I think this counts.

Crochet Challenge!! Day 21: Least Favorite Item Made

Today's theme is least favorite item made. My least favorite item I've made is my first attempt at a teddy bear. It was rainbow colored and under stuffed and poorly sewn. Unfortunately I don't have a picture of it so instead I give you pictures of the cat butt coasters I made today. I thought I would never make them, but thought of them instantly when this theme came up today. They are oddly cute now that I have made them.

Crochet Challenge!! Day 20: Favorite Item Made

The theme of today is favorite item ever made. My favorite thing I ever made is definitely the little hamburger amigurumi I made. He is super adorable and I made the pattern myself. Also he just so fun to make.

He comes completely apart and each of the pieces still looks like what it is even when he is not assembled. I feel like he would make a cute kids toy or just a desk decoration. The top of his head is based off the top of a monsters head and the bottom is two circles sew together and I think I put a round piece of cardboard in between them also. You can see in the back the other version i made of the bottom bun.

One hornonary mention for favorite item made is the blanket that I made Magan and Kyle for their wedding. Its definitely the biggest project I have ever done, I think the finished blanket was 7' by 8'. It took a while to make all of the granny squares and attach them.

Crochet Challenge!! Day 19: Pink

I don't use pink very much in crochet and I couldn't find any projects I've made that are pink. So I went on Pinterest and found this today.

It is a breast cancer support angel ribbon.

Crochet Challenge!! Day 18: WIPS #2

This is the second day of the challenge with the theme "Work in Progress". The project that I am currently working on is a baby blanket for my future nephew, who is due in a couple months. I started this blanket before we knew the gender so I chose a very gender neutral color and idea. It is a bee hive blanket. And will have tiny little bees flying all around it when I'm done.

You have to make each of the hexagons separately and then sew them all together so it's been taking me a pretty long time, but it is a very easy project to carry around which is nice.

Crochet Challenge!! Day 17: Last Gift Made

The last gifts I made, other than the case for Alfredo, were Christmas gifts. The one that I think came out pretty well is a Hello Kitty bag for Alfredo's little cousin. =) She is a big fan of Hello Kitty and the character is such a simple shape that she lends herself to crochet. I just crocheted all the flat pieces and then sewed them together. The front and back were beveled rectangles and the ears were rounded triangles. The bow was a long thin piece loop together and sewn with a small piece to cover the seam. The face is all sewn on from the inside. The nose is multiple loops of yellow yarn.

The cousin I made this for is actually currently learning to crochet and I'm so proud of her =)

Finished Halloween Wall Hang

I started this project yesterday and was my first time trying the corner to corner method. The technique makes graphghans so much easier and I really enjoyed it. I followed the crochet crowd's instruction video to learn this stitch.

I included a quarter in the photo for scale.

Crochet Challenge!! Day 16: Closet Holiday

I started a project at 7:30 hoping I could crochet fast enough to submit for this theme. Unfortunately it is only half done and I have to be up for work in the morning. I'm going to share what I have right now and show the finished product tomorrow.

It is a image of a bat flying in front of the moon made using the corner to corner method. This is my first time using his method and I really like it so far. Halloween is actually my favorite holiday so it's sad that I could make it fast enough to share the whole thing.

Crochet Challenge!! Day 15: Purple

Today's theme is purple =) Here is a yarn bomb that I did for the library. The base is a purple waffle stitch with a dark green vine that is chained onto the surface and white flowers that are sewed on top. It was one of a set of three yarn bombs installed in the library that day.

Here are some other purple projects that I've made =) including trebles, a bow necklace, a fish, a blanket, and finger less gloves.

Crochet Challenge!! Day 14: Blue

The theme for today is blue =) and as my friend Cristina mentioned in here post from today it is a wonderful color to crochet and I also have a couple shades of it. Today I selected a scarf that I made for my sister. She is going to school to be a meteorologist so I made her a scarf where she could change the weather: Sunny, Cloudy, Raining, and Snowing. They are connected with buttons and the scarf looks neat even without the weather.

Here are some other random projects that I've made that are blue:

Crochet Challenge!! Day 13: Green

The theme of today is green. Luckily I was able to instantly figure out which project I wanted to share for this theme. What I instantly think of when I think of green crochet is this cute little teenage mutant ninja turtle I made. The place I originally got the pattern from in no longer active, but is mentioned in my full post here.

Here are some other green things I've made:
