Crochet Baby Sandals- WIMTW- What I Made This Weekend

This weekend I made these adorable baby sandals. They have a heal strap that is suppose to have a button, but we figured not having a button was safer. They also have a super cute bow as a toe piece. They are super quick to make once you figure out the pattern.

I made these ones for my mom for a baby shower gift. The set included one pink pair, one blue pair, and a purple pair.

The pattern comes from here

Post again soon :)

Crochet Challenge!! Day 22: Brown

The theme for today is brown. A color which I have not used often at all. The only project I could think to share is the crocheting movie that I made for Campus Movie Fest. It features a seed that slowly grows into a tree.

Yarn of Life

It was mostly made of brown so I think this counts.

You can find the challenge on usscrafty's blog:

Crochet Challenge!! Day 12: Favorite Yarn Shop

My favorite exclusively yarn shop would have to be Woolbearers. It has a wonderful vibe and they specialize in hand painted yarn. They also have fun, quirky classes like "knitting and yoga". I don't go there very often because it's a little out of my price range. But not as expensive as some shops and for the quality product that have, I have never been less than thrilled with any thing I got there. And they sell spinning supplies

Usually I buy my yarn at Ac Moore, just because of the price and the fact that they always have at least a 40% coupon and they carry my favorite yarn :)

The challenge was started by usscrafty and here is a link to that post:

Crochet Challenge!! Day 9: Least Favorite Yarn

My least favorite yarn definitely has to be anything fuzzy or stringy, especially the stuff from the dollar store. It makes crocheting anything super hard and usually just results in me making a huge knot.

Before I ever tried fuzzy yarn I would see it and get excited and dream of what I could do with it, but after trying it a couple times it's a nightmare.

They do say it can be easier when you add and extra guide string, but I still prefer to avoid the stuff all together.

Crochet Challenge!! Day 8: Favorite Yarn

My favorite yarn to use is definetly Red Heart Super Saver Economy. As you can probably tell the price is definetly a factor. It also has sooooooo many colors. It is a little rough but there are ways of softening it after the project is finished. I would be hard pressed to find more than 2 projects I have ever made that aren't Super Saver.

Look at all the colors!!!!

Crochet Challenge!! Day 2: Last Completed Project

My last completed project was a set of charger cases for my and Alfredo. Radio shack was going out of business and he found a set of super cute portable chargers. I made a case for both of them.

The pink one is mine and is meant to look sorta like dragon scales...it was just testing out the pattern for future use. It has a draw string top, that can be tied to keep the contents inside.

The blue one is Alfredo's and has a B on it for his last name, as he requested. The charger fits snugly inside the square case and it buttons shut.

Yarn Bombing My Unicycle

I've had my unicycle for a couple years now and I still can barely ride it. One of my goals is to eventually ride it as my main form of small distance transport. Unicycles are awesome becauase they are light, small, easy to transport, safe, cool looking, and fun. I was looking at it today and decided he needed decorating, if i cant ride him he might as well look awesome. So I took my two of my favorite things and combined them.

Uni is now all dressed up with yarn and beautiful. I hope to be practicing as soon as weather allows.

Valentines for Strangers

I had quite a few crochet hearts left just hanging around before Valentine's day and Alfredo suggested a fun and sweet way to give them away. I always like it when quotes from video games are put in real life, so I made up this poster and popped some holes in the bottom using a Christmas tree punch. I tied the hearts through the holes and voila!

This is what it looked like hung up on the pole across from my window so I could watch.

I had a bit of a stake out with my camera stealth-fully placed through the windows shades the be less visible. I really just wanted to make sure nobody ruined the sign for everyone else. I did eventually move the sign in front of my door because there's more foot traffic.

When I got back on campus the sign was completely empty =)

Birthday Yarn Bomb 2

I continued my tradition of yarn bombing on my birthday with this on Wednesday. I started it Tuesday night at 9 pm and had it finished and up on the pole by 3 am. Its not my best work, because the 22 looks kinda funny.
I sewed them a distance that looked appropriate while i was making it, but when wrapped around a pole the 2's got kinda far apart.
The balloons are pretty cute though. I started by chaining 3, I put 3 stitches in the stitches on both sides and one in the middle.
Then I only expanded in the end stitches:
                  2nd row= *1 sc, 2 in next*
                  3rd row= *2 sc, 2 in next*
4th row= *3 sc, 2 in next*    Continue until the balloon is the size you wish by increasing the red number by 1 each row

If you would like to see my first yarn bomb you can find it here. Post again soon =)

Crochet Snail at Work

made a sample amigurumi for work a year ago and today I randomly decided to finally take pictures. If you live near the Ac Moore in Voorhees you can go take a look at the cute little guy. He's just a little guy that I randomly picked out of one of the amigurumi books that AC Moore sells.

New Yarn Bombing

This is the newest yarn bomb that I have done =) I made a black band to fit tightly around the pole and then a blue rectangle. I then pressed the middle of the blue rectangle together and secured it with a long chain with two rows of single crochets on each side. Then I sewed the bow to the band using blue yarn.
